The continuous output rating shows you how the motor is going to perform under a load. The peak rating only shows you what the motor can do fully unloaded, which is pretty much worthless information for use in a treadmill application.

Features like iPod connections or built in stereos or televisions are nice, but you should consider how much flex is built into the deck to relieve the strain on your joints, the power of the motor and the length of the warranty long before worrying about the fancy accessories that may or may not be of any value to you. The most important thing is to buy a treadmill that is going to give the best workout and longest life for your money.
