When it comes to running on a treadmill you are going to need a good pair of treadmill running
shoes, this is really a subtle play on words as there are very few difference in running shoes that can be
attributed to being used strictly for a treadmill. One of the biggest mistakes most people make when buying any
kind of running shoe is to opt for the cheapest ones they can find. This usually entails hitting the clearance
racks or worse yet settling for an off the rack pair at your local discount outlet.
Buy Quality First
When you start running the last thing you want to have to deal with is sore feet or blisters
because that new pair of treadmill running shoes you got for such a bargain kill your feet. There is no bargain in
a pair of shoes that you can only wear once before you find out that they hurt your feet so much that you end up
throwing them away. While you may not really want to spend the money on a good quality name brand running shoe, you
will find that these shoes are far more likely to not give you any problems and last you a lot longer.
Most people seem to think that when you buy a name brand shoe you are paying far too much for
the name on the side and that all running shoes are pretty much the same. This is definitely not true as millions
are spent researching by companies like Nike and Reebok developing the very best in shoes. Those off brands are
merely poor imitations that lack the quality materials and cannot exactly replicate the designs that are patented.
This makes for a far more inferior product and in some cases can create a shoe that will cause damage to your feet
that the real shoe would not.
Choosing the Right Shoe
If you are going to run on a treadmill or outside you need to make sure that you buy shoes that
not only fit your foot perfectly, but fit your gait as well. Not everyone walks the same way, some walk more on
their toes or their heels while others walk on one side of their foot or the other. Pronation is described as the
roll of your foot from heel to toe as you go through a step known as the foot strike. A proper strike means that
you step on the outside of your heel and roll evenly up to the ball of your foot.
While most of us have a neutral pronation, running shoes come in three shapes to accommodate for
those who do not. Having flat feet (overpronation) requires a shoe that has a straight shape to compensate for this
problem; by the same token if you have a really high arch (underpronation), you will want a shoe that has a curved
shape. For those with a neutral pronation a semi curved shape is considered ideal.
The best way to do this is to go to store that sells sports shoes and have them carefully
measure your feet and check your gait and your arches. Even if you decide to buy your shoes online you still need
to know exactly what to order to make sure you get a good fit. Once you get them check to make sure that they fit
snugly enough to hold your feet in place but are not too tight, they should not slip on your foot either to make
sure that are comfortable when you are using your treadmill. While there are no real treadmill running shoes as
such, you should make sure you buy the best shoe you can to protect your feet.
